Mexico! One of the prettiest places I’ve ever been to. Listen, day drinking is NOT frowned upon. Thoughts on migrating?
Like the OCD nerd I am, I plan every trip my family takes down to the T. I research each place like an hijo de puta before we go and choose and list activities to do. HELLO! We’re on a time constraint! So much to do and so little time. I LOVE Mexico, besides the fact that I was drunk everyday, I fit right in! These people are short! I am CONVINCED I’m part Mexican because that’s the only way to explain this stunted growth of mine. Vertically challenged is an understatement!

I’ve attached a video of myself with Carlos the bartender attempting to teach me some flair and failing like wow! I thought I was smooth but turns out my clumsiness transfers throughout my life. The camera quality is horse shit and Jose clearly didn’t think that idiots like us would be taping this class ‘cuz he set his bar up against the light. I also managed to convince him that my name was Juana so that’s what he referred to me as for this entire class.
The best part for me was that Jorge was letting me sample each drink. And by sample I mean, I drank the entire thing. By the third drink I was samba-ing out of there. Olé!
You know those things we never understood that came with drink shakers? Well they all have a use! So if you have a set of that, that’s literally the only tools you need.
These are Roberto’s recipes that I’m sharing with you guys. I’m just posting my 2 favorite ones! Hope you enjoy as much as I did.
1 oz Absolut Citron Vodka
1/2 oz Strawberry Liquor
1/2 oz Simple Syrup
A handful of fresh strawberries, rinsed
2 pieces of Basil
Sugar in a plate, extra simple syrup for garnish
- Muddle 4 strawberries and 1 sprig of basil
- Mix all the ingredients and shake with ice
- Prepare glasses. Roll rim of glass in simple syrup and then in sugar. Slice a strawberry in 4 vertically
- Half each piece of strawberry but not to separate pieces
- Place on rim of glass
- Strain drink and drop other sprig of bail into glass
- Serve immediately.
2 oz of white Tequila
1 oz of Lime Juice
1 oz Simple Syrup
Chunks of red pepper (4 pieces)
Simple Syrup and cayenne pepper for garnish,
Save chunk of red pepper for garnish
- Muddle pepper with the syrup and lime juice
- Add tequila and shake with ice
- Prepare glass. Roll rim of glass in simple syrup and cayenne pepper
- Place chunk of red pepper on rim
- Strain and serve chilled
