Confesh-Sesh #20: When life gives you lemons, be a pineapple. Stand tall, wear a crown and be sweet on the inside…
Hello Confesh-Seshers! I’m back! My oh my, has it been a long time since I posted anything here. Yikes! First and foremost, HAPPY NEW YEAR! I hope everyone had a safe and enjoyable holiday season and that no one was on Santa’s naughty list. I just want to wish each and everyone of you a bright and prosperous New Year and here’s to hoping that all your dreams come true!
This post isn’t going to be very long because I know we’re all still in our food comas and hungover AF from the past couple days. I have so much in store for you for 2018!
I have a shit tonne of Christmas recipes to post so we’re going to be eating Christmas food straight up until February! Believe me, I’ve tried, tested, adjusted and perfected for you guys. I have a tonne of new makeup videos, DIYs, funny videos and other rando goodness planned! And yes, of course, the mini saga about Mr A goes on until it reaches its end.

My 2017 was full of ups and downs, highs and lows but the common theme throughout my year was family and friends to whom, I’m forever grateful and have no clue where I’d be without them. (Not going into too much detail here ‘cuz I did that for my birthday).
Through all the laughs and tears, excitements and disappointments, I learnt how incredibly blessed I am. I also learnt that you should NEVER allow anyone or anything to dull your shine.
To all the beautiful souls out there, there are always people who are going to speak negatively about you, continue doing you anyway. There will always be someone who thinks they have the right to judge you based on your life and choices, continue living anyway. There will always be a preconceived notion and opinion formed about you by someone who probably doesn’t even know you, continue to shine anyway. There will always be someone who thinks they know you and your story better than you know yourself and your story, smile and turn the other cheek.
Trinidad is a beautiful place but it’s full of assholes. It’s sad that the mentality is to tear down each other especially if someone is trying to succeed and do something. Do it anyway. Nothing is wrong with trying, it’s always better to try and fail than to fail to try.
We’re all full of opinions and judgement but maybe each and everyone of us should introspect on our own lives before we start picking apart someone else’s (anddddd we’re all guilty of this).
For 2018 let’s focus on building ourselves and each other up. Forget the bad mind in 2017, forget the envy, jealousy and hate in 2017 and let’s spread some #Positivity. It’s what our little island needs at this time; love, peace and hope. Quite often we get so caught up in things other people do and in passing judgement on them that we don’t realize we’ve done the same or worse than them. Because their issue may have been more public than yours doesn’t mean that you didn’t do ah pack ah shit too. You just didn’t get caught. Reminds me of that saying, “If a tree falls in the forest and no one is around, does it still make a noise?”

Our goal in 2018 is to be kind to one another. I’m not saying to be fake either eh! But less negativity and criticism. What is it that we achieve by bringing someone else down? Does it make you sleep better at night? If it does, then go right ahead but also see a pastor or priest to see if your soul could be salvaged.

Reach for the stars! It’s a new year with new beginnings. Don’t ever let anyone tell you, you can’t. Just believe in yourself and believe in the magic that exists around us everyday!
Happy New Year everyone! Hope this year is truly filled with everything we hope it is! Cheers to success, longevity and most importantly happiness! Remember, life is a journey to be enjoyed, so be serious, be focused but also remember to have fun and to be a little silly too! (This is low key a pep-talk for myself but I hope you benefited too). We’re ready 2018!
OUT AND BAD!
