Cheese Paste Recipe

Fasting season is upon us and if you’re anything like me, a COMPLETE meat mouth, it’s the most difficult time of the year. I’m a VERY picky eater, I eat like a 5 year old so for me fasting is difficult. There are a lot of things I don’t eat, and that includes basically every vegetable so my options boil down to bread, cheese and butter. Any combination of this is all that I can eat.

Cheese paste is a LIFE SAVER  when I’m fasting. It’s quick, easy and lasts me about a week. I eat it with bread, Crix or croissants.

I always look forward to coloured cheese paste sandwiches in kids’ parties. Nothing is more fun than coloured cheese paste! It’s a party staple.

Let’s get our fasting party on!

INGREDIENTS

  • 1/2 block cheddar cheese, grated
  • 1/2 carrot, grated
  • 1/2 onion, cubed or grated
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp butter
  • 2 Tbsp eggless mayo
  • 1 Tbsp mustard
  • dash of blackpepper
  • 1 tsp crushed chili flakes

METHOD

  1. Grate cheese and carrots
  2. Dice or grate onion
  3. Add all ingredients to bowl and stir until a creamy paste is formed
  4. Serve with bread or refrigerate the remainder

NB. If the cheese paste isn’t creamy enough, you can add 1-2 tsp of milk until you achieve the desired consistency.

Definitely the easiest recipe ever. It takes less than 10 minutes to prepare and is perfect when your stomach is rumbling and you’re in a rush! If you have kids, this is an easy and fun lunch kit food.

Enjoy!
